Developmental Preschool Classes
The CBSED Early Childhood Department provides developmental preschool classes for children whose disabilities are significantly impacting overall development. Areas of Developmental Delay include cognitive skills(school readiness), communication skills, self help skills, motor skills and social/emotional skills. Criteria form placement is determined on results of a universal screening and classroom evaluation process. If eligible, placement in developmental preschool class is a case conference committee decision. These classes are located in various elementary school buildings throughout the four participating school corporation districts. Local school corporations provide transportation services to their developmental preschool classes when warranted. Developmental preschool classes are staffed by appropriately licensed public school teachers and highly qualified Educational Assistants. Supportive therapy services are available at each developmental preschool site with each child's eligibility for those services determined through evaluation and case conference committee decision. If you suspect your child may have a developmental delay, contact the District Supervisor at 812-462-4364 ext. 203. The program provides universal screening twice a month August through March.
