Alternative to Suspension Instructor

Covered Bridge Special Education District is accepting applications for licensed teachers (6-12) working with the Alternative to Suspension Programs. The Alternative to Suspension Programs provide academic and social/emotional learning opportunities to middle and high school students who are removed for a short period of time from their home schools. Educational Assistant Substitutes for Preschool

Special Education Teachers

Covered Bridge Special Education District is currently accepting applications for special education teachers with a current license for various positions throughout Vigo County School Corporation.


Intense Intervention Teacher

Covered Bridge Special Education District is currently accepting application for an Intense Interventions teacher at Central Elementary School in South Vermillion Community School Corporation.


Speech Language Pathologists

Covered Bridge Special Education District is currently accepting applications for two speech language pathologists with their CCC certification and licensing. One postion is secondary and the other is preschool.  Interested individuals may apply below online. 


Covered Bridge Special Education District is accepting resumes for a Treasurer / Benefits Manager until November 2, 2018. This position will begin on or before November 26, 2018

(Job Description)


1.    A degree in Education, Business Management, or Accounting. CPA preferred, but not required.

2.    Five years’ experience in one of the above fields, with experience in school accounting, budget preparation and monitoring, federal and state regulations and reporting, internal control, payroll and employee benefit administration.

3.    Knowledge of federal, state and county payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax and ACA reporting.

4.    Ability to interpret and implement numerous employee benefit contracts and handbooks.

5.    Proficient in creation and maintenance of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

6.    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word documents.

7.    Highly organized with close attention to detail.

8.    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

9.    Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director and the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:        Executive Director

JOB GOAL:             To administer the business affairs of the special education school district efficiently and to provide sound financial management for the inter-local.



1.   Serve as the school district’s Treasurer and shall be bonded.

2.   Consult with the Executive Director and Assistant Director for long range financial planning and budget development.

3.   Responsible for the preparation and modification of the budgets for the general and federal funds.

4.   Prepare assessment invoices for member corporations as set forth in board approved budgets.

5.   Prepare cash reimbursement requests for IDOE Part B grants.

6.   Maintain a program of budget control for a balanced budget.

7.   Develop monthly financial reports for the Board and Executive Director.

8.   Prepare reports filed with the Internal Revenue Service, Indiana Department of Revenue, Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Department of

      Education and State Board of Accounts.

9.   Responsible for providing LEA’s with SEFA information for their financial reporting of federal programs.

10. Participate in and review of accounting, payroll, purchasing and other business office transactions.

11. Responsible for verifying and approving all claims for payment.

12. Responsible for complete and proper processing, transmission and reporting of the bi-weekly payroll, attendance tracking and payroll deductions.

13. Work with software vendor on appropriate and adequate accounting software for the maintenance of the accounting transactions. Download software updates.

14. Assist the Director of Human Resources with employee handbook discussions.

15. Prepare/ supervise the issuance of employment contracts.

16. Serve ex-officio on the VCSC Employee Benefits Committee for all employee benefit programs.

17. Conduct new employee orientation.

18. Plan administrator to the pension plan.

19.  Prepare information for all benefit plan renewals.

20. Calculate cost sheets for distribution to specific employee groups.

21. Work directly with companies and consultants on providing the best and most cost-effective group insurance products, voluntary products and pension

      products. Incudes the addition, reduction or enhancement of the benefit package.

22.  Help resolve insurance benefit issues when necessary.

23. Review benefit invoices for correctness and resolves issues.

24. Manage open enrollment for benefits.

25. Leave of absence administration.

26. Explain leave options to employees.

27. Assist in Long-term disability claims.

28. Assist in employee life insurance death claims.

29. Inform retirees of benefit eligibility. Invoice and track retiree insurance payments.

30. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Assistant Director.


TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:       Twelve months. Salary, benefits, and work year as defined in Managerial Handbook.


EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on

Evaluation of Managerial Personnel.
